Overwatch allows players to choose from dozens of playable heroes, each of which come with their own unique abilities and playstyle. There are different objectives that can be played, like securing specific points of the map, or escorting a payload to safety. Either way, two teams of six players compete in each match. Heroes are leveled and progress within each match, but that progress is reset after each match is complete. There are microtransactions for cosmetic items, but like the rewards earned for progressing, these items do not impact the actual gameplay. There are short animations that describe the backstory to overwatch, but the game is not very hinged on the lore. That being said, the lore is worth looking into because, while it is simple and easy to grasp, it is a pretty interesting story. Put very simply, Overwatch is a peace-keeping group fighting to save the world from existential crisis. Overwatch was released for Xbox One, Playstation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch.

Where a controller will require a player to combine more than one button for some functions, a keyboard has enough keys to assign a button to each function individually. Players certainly have the option of playing with a controller if that suits their personal playstyle better, but a keyboard could give you an edge that might be the difference between winning and losing.

In March of this year, Overwatch developers introduced two new systems to competitive play called Hero Pools and Map Pools. This was basically an attempt by the developers to keep the game exciting and fresh by rotating out certain heroes each week and making them unplayable. The idea was to keep the meta changing weekly, and based on player feedback, it seems as though it has been mostly successful.
