New CAS Story Mode - The Sims 4 - Maxis Monthly Update
This July The Sims team announced a massive update coming this July 16th to the Sims 4. This update includes new branding, CAS story mode and also over 1,000 new objects have been made available in build and buy mode! A preview was shown on The Sims 4 Twitch channel, showing off their latest Maxis Monthly update and allowing fans to get a sneak glimpse into what's coming up next.
New Branding
The Sims 4 has had the same branding for over 5 years now so it is unsurprising that the team wanted to give it a bit of a sprucing up! They have redesigned all of the different packs front covers making them a lot more vibrant - even the plumbob has had a makeover! Also the new sims on the base game cover are new playable characters! The team have also designed a brand new home and loading screen as well! The new home screen now includes trailer videos of the different expansion packs and also the newly designed pack icons!
CAS Story Mode
This is a new feature that many players have been most excited about. It has been designed to give your sim's stories more depth and to further develop their character right from the get go. Now when you go into create a sim you have an option to create them using CAS Story Mode. You will then be asked a series of questions that you answer as your sim would answer. These could be anything from "what music do you like?" to "what do you think about children?". You are given 3 answers to choose from and if you don't like the question you can simply generate a new one.
But how do your answers alter your sim? Your responses to these questions determine your sims aspirations, traits, career, starting funds and even the skills that your sim starts off with! Once these have been decided on you can't change them so make sure you choose your answers wisely!
If this doesn't sound like your cup of tea then don't worry you can simply select 'no thanks' when the option for creating your sim's story comes up and create a sim as you would normally.

1,000+ New Objects
This update is also bringing us over 1,000 new items in build and buy mode. Yes you heard that right - over 1,000! The sims team have unlocked previous hidden objects that they used to build community lots etc so that we can now use them in our builds! These objects could be anything from different plants to giant billboards! All of these items have a small gray world icon in the top right hand corner of its picture so you will be able to recognise what has been added. These new items will allow players to get more creative and have fun with their builds!
