February Income Report - 2017
This is my 9th Income Report in which I detail how much money I made online this month.
These reports are designed to show you that it is possible to make money online. I also want to use them to give myself motivation to meet targets, describe new challenges and achievements. Every month I’ll post reports of my google analytics, income stats and more.

I had planned for February to be a month of development. For the most part, this was true, but I did have a few days which distracted me and thus I didn't manage to get as much done as I'd like. I had my birthday and Valentines day off, and then a couple of days off due to travelling back and forth between the UK and France.
The good news is that I've made substantial progress with my new product. I'm happy to reveal it's going to be a School Management System that allows you to manage teachers, students and classes in a all-in-one package. Similarly to Titan, this system comprises of many different components and it's taking a lot of work to get it done.
As of writing this, I have just finished the core aspects of it. For the next month, it'll be about building on those foundations and creating more useful features that will help with managing a school.
The biggest challenge of this product was setting up how users interact with each other. In a school system you have different roles, such as Teachers and Students. I have a User Role system built into my own core products, so I had to adapt this concept to make it work for a school system. Figuring out who should get what permissions was a bit of a headache but I feel like I've got a good balance now.
I decided to do a School management system because it seemed like the next logical step to take. A lot of the products I make have been smaller concepts and their income is quite small compared to my bigger products. Titan and Support Centre are my best sellers and evidently they are my biggest products. I feel like this will be the direction my products will take, being big, feature rich products that have lots of functionality.
Blog wise, I decided to do a couple of different articles. Some of my most searched pages are about buying cs6 photoshop and so I decided I would add some extra content that I could link to it, in the form of a Photoshop Alternatives Guide.
The other article I wrote was about the recent Pewdiepie drama and anti-semetism. I don't normally write these kind of articles, mostly because my audience is quite small and it takes quite an effort to write. But sometimes I just get a good idea and concept in my mind for an article, and this recent incident helped me with crafting it.
I also wanted to see if any of my search traffic would trickle over to other articles I would write; my current research shows this isn't the case but I think it might also be to do with the subject matter. Either way, it's very interesting to work on content and see if it works or not- all of this blogging stuff I do is in my spare time. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't.
My recent Datatables Tutorials with CodeIgniter have done really well and are pulling in a bit of traffic now. I'm going to be working on some new tutorials this month that I hope will be just as successful.
I mentioned in last month's update that I had pushed a new update to Pro Polls. So far, the update hasn't really increased it's sales too much. I still get about the same as I did before the update. At least the new updated version contains my new codebase and features so it will be easier to upgrade in the future.
Earnings Report
Source | Earnings | Last Month |
---|---|---|
CodeCanyon | $1,510.69 | -36.2% (-$859.42) |
Freelance | $400.00 | +122% (+$220.00) |
Total | $1,910.69 | -25.07% (-$639.42) |
A significant drop from last month but I am still happy with how I'm progressing. I feel like last month's earnings were a one off. This month product sales have been a lot slower but I also managed to sell a few extended licenses that helped boost the total amount earned.
Some freelance work helped net $400.00 too, which I've been happy to do when product sales are low.
Stats Report
Traffic has increased this month. We did get some more spam results, but they've been blocked now and hopefully I can keep them at bay- that's the massive spike of traffic I received towards the end of the month.
I'm getting over 50% of my traffic from organic search so I'm happy that my content is getting listed in Google Search. My target of hitting 100 unique hits a day looks possible if I can continue with adding more useful content.
Time Report
Time spent this month has significantly dropped. Most of this was due to all the travelling I had to do and the couple of days in the week that I had to dedicate to my birthday and valentines day. Fingers crossed I can dramatically improve this for March, since I have 0 plans for this month so far.
I use my project management system - Titan for tracking my time.
March Plans
Going into March I hope to finally finish up my new school management product. The month should be very distraction free so I hope to get a substantial amount done. I feel the release of the new product will probably just creep into April but I'm targeting an end of March release. I just want to make sure the product is as polished as possible.
I plan to begin writing some new tutorials for the library FullCalendar, which is a jquery plugin that creates a calendar for you. I'm going to write about how to implement it using PHP and making a full working database-backed application.
It's starting to warm up here in Montpellier; I'm used to having temperatures of 7c in February but I've actually had a couple of days this week in the late teens. I can't wait for it to be hot enough to sunbathe on the beach.
Also, I just crossed the mark of 2,000 total sales on CodeCanyon. It seems like ages ago since I hit my first 1,000! I'll blog a bit more about this milestone next time (since it technically happened in March). Thank you to all of my customers!
