July Income Report
This is my 2nd Income Report in which I detail how much money I made online this month.
Welcome to the July Income report for Patchesoft! This report will detail all my blog earnings for the month of July, as well as commentary on what I've been up to, goals that I've met or failed and my plans for the upcoming month!
You can read previous income reports from our Income Report page.
July Overview
I had the CEO check in on me during one hot day in July. Meow!
July has been an interesting month. I have been increasing my focus on blogging, learning all the ins and outs of it, including SEO, guest posting, what makes a good post etc. Not a lot of it has gone into the Patchesoft blog, but the research will surely benefit me in future posts.
SEO, otherwise known as search engine optimisation, has been one of the core topics I have been learning about. It has given me a lot of motivation to try out new things, including the idea of niche sites. I have had the idea in my head of starting a blog about a niche for a while now and I figured what better way to do it than to involve you guys right? Well starting in August, I'll be doing a niche-site case study which will feature my progress of creating a brand new site from scratch and trying to get it to rank high in google.
I did mention in the June Income report that I was testing out SEO and I have made quite a bit of progress. The keywords I was targeting are now showing blog posts from Patchesoft. I always thought the process of ranking on google was some kind of voo-doo magic but all it takes is consistent hard work. With my Niche site project, I hope to take it to the next level.
I also took a week's vacation and went abroad so I was unable to do a bit of work during this time, mostly freelance work. I was on course to break my Envato earnings but during the last 7 days sales completely died (I think we got like 3 in 7 days.).
My two new in-development products are coming along nicely. I hope to release one of them during August and then begin planning some updates to existing products. I've got some quite good ideas too so hopefully that will help boost sales.

Source | Earnings | Last Month | Estimate Time Spent |

Total | $1,424.17.00 | -14% (-$245.83) | N/A |
Stats
I didn't post my stats from the last income report, but my traffic has remained mostly the same. The huge spike in traffic came from StumbleUpon on one of my blog posts. Then I had a rather low few days during the end of July which offset it all. Still, 1,000 unique visitors is my usual monthly figure.
August Plans
I hope to have a full months worth of work this month. Towards the end of the month, I'll be moving to France for a couple of months to support my girlfriend whilst she does her work placement. I'm going to try and minimise the impact on this as much as possible on my work but it's something I've never done before (lived in another country) so we'll have to see how things go.
I hope to release a new product towards the end of the month too, I doubt it'll have any effect on August earnings since it will come late in the month.
I'll also be working on my first ever niche site and I'll be posting a little case study report about this once a month. Hopefully you guys can follow along in my case study and see it grow over time.
We'll be switching the server to a new one very soon. The reason for this was because the server was setup by my friend and it was really hard to add in my own custom features without having to bother my friend. So, over the past couple of months I've been learning how to be a system administrator and the fruits of that labour are about to shown when we move to a new server in the next week or so. We'll be enabling HTTPs which will hopefully help us in google search rankings too!
My next report will come directly from Paris, so I'll try and show you some images on where I am!
