July Income Report 2017

This is my 14th Income Report in which I detail how much money I made online this month.

These reports are designed to show you that it is possible to make money online. I also want to use them to give myself motivation to meet targets, describe new challenges and achievements. Every month I'll post reports of my google analytics, income stats and more.

Hello guys! For most of July, I was on vacation so not a lot has been happening work wise. This Income Report will be a lot shorter than normal, but there are still some interesting stats to look at. I know these reports keep getting published later and later into the month, but I do have a reason for this and I'll share it in August's Income Report.

I had around 1 week of July to get any work done. In the second week, I was looking after a family member who had visited all the way from the other side of the world (so I couldn't just ditch them!) and in the following weeks after that I was on vacation.

So in my one week I've been planning a new product. I must say I am finding starting new products a lot more harder these days. If you want to get into a certain niche of products, nine times out of ten, there is usually a cluster of great products that already do really well and over time have built up a great backend of features. When you start from scratch, it can seem like you'll never be able to compete because the amount of time and effort put into products seems overwhelming.

The good news is that I got started. I've got my framework setup, planned a couple of features and began coding some stuff. This product is going to be another one that sucks up all my development time and it'll probably be one of my last big ones for the year. After this is completed, my focus will be on updating my existing products and making sure they are all healthy.

I have been managing to do some writing during my holiday for the blog. I published two new articles on Amazon Affiliate Sites and using the Amazon Affiliate API in PHP. I spent a great deal of time researching these pieces and have one more to put up that is about being a YouTube Affiliate. Why you ask? Well I've been targeting some keywords that I want to rank for and I thought having three quality articles related to each other would help. I'm trying to push my traffic over the 200 Unique Hits Per Day mark and to do that I need to publish more quality content.

A dip this month. I did have a banner at the top of my products throughout most of the month that I would be on vacation- so this definitely could have had an impact on sales. It's also a summer month, which are notorious for being slow.

I did use my sales tracking tool to see if the dip correlated with low sales on Envato PHP scripts, but the difference was marginal (a tiny dip!).

Traffic

Although traffic did dip by 5% compared to last month, certain other factors increased, such as Bounce rate and time on page. This could be an affect of the summer months but also I could have lost some visitors due to ranking changes (I've been getting a lot of fluctuations recently).

Time

You can't work when you're on vacation!

I use Titan - Project Management System to manage my time.

August Plans

I am planning to try and work very hard this month. I really want to get some good progress put into my new product so that I can see the end in sight by the time the month is over. I don't have too many distractions, but I'm sure I'll find some anyway.

I've been getting some requests for YouTube Video tutorials. I've dabbled in these before, mostly using text annotations instead of voice overs, but this might be another way to encourage users to buy my products.

Someone also mentioned I should post how my work setup is; if I get time next month I'd love to do a blog post like this too!

Coming back from Vacation usually means I have to handle a big full inbox of issues so that will be one of my first jobs. It's always tricky going on vacation when you're a one man show; you want to offer support as fast as possible but you also want to take time off and relax to prepare yourself for the final part of the year.
